Lowarno City Map Guide

Lowarno City is the single Lands of Dusk playable in The Duskbloods’ Closed Network Test. It draws on the Gothic Victorian aesthetic FromSoftware emphasised during the Creator’s Voice reveal, blended with industrial grit from the early modern period. Three maps are planned for the 2026 retail launch; Lowarno is the only one we can break down today. The other two are listed in Three Maps at Launch for comparison but their regions remain unrevealed.

Lowarno City’s defining trait is verticality. Players can charge-jump, perform a four-jump combo, and airdash to traverse rooftops, bell towers, and cathedral facades. Knowing how to read each region is the difference between arriving first to a Flame Virtue corpse and finding it already activated.

Pair this map guide with Dusk Battle Phases for phase-level decisions and Virtue System for corpse and Pledge positioning.

Map at a glance

Lowarno City is a multi-layered locale with the following key regions:

  • Cathedral: a towering gothic structure with side chapels and a high nave.
  • Bell tower: the tallest point on the map, central to the Phase II/III bell-ringing Event.
  • Underground ruins: accessible from the cathedral lower levels; claustrophobic corridors.
  • Poisonous marsh: a swampy region that punishes players without ranged tools.
  • Crowded rooftops: the main vertical layer that snakes over the city streets.
  • City streets: the ground-level mixed-use area used for Trespasser fights.
  • Bridge: a single crossing over a river that runs through the middle of the map.

Players choose which general area to spawn into at the start of each phase, then receive a random spawn within that area. Map markers indicate which regions have which perks during the active phase—Flame Virtue corpses, weapon enhancers, or bonus Kin experience, for example.

Cathedral

The cathedral is the spiritual centre of Lowarno City. FromSoftware’s preview coverage emphasised its gothic-victorian architecture with pointed arches, stained glass, and dark wood. Combat inside the cathedral typically involves vertical chases through side chapels and benches. Trespassers occasionally spawn here, particularly boss variants that can punt players off balconies if not interrupted.

Strategic notes:

  • Use the upper balconies for ranged engagements against players on the ground floor.
  • Beware fall damage: cathedrals are designed for high-stakes jumps.
  • The cathedral connects to the underground ruins via stairs near the back, so losing a duel here often means being pushed into a tougher area.
  • Bloodsworn with mobility skills like Sniper Layla’s insect transform excel in these vertical chases.

Bell tower

The bell tower is the single most contested structure on the map. It houses a bell that rings as part of a Phase II/III Event in which the player who rings it first earns bonus Virtue. The race is real: press coverage frequently described bell-tower rushes as the most exciting moments of the Network Test.

Strategic notes:

  • Spawn into the region containing the bell tower whenever the bell-ringing Event is announced.
  • Vertical routes matter: the best climbers reach the bell first. Trang Lanh and Senator Samir Patres perform especially well here.
  • Defenders can be ambushed from above by players who used the bell-tower stairs to climb.
  • Defending the bell after ringing is harder than reaching it; expect to be hunted by rivals immediately after pressing the bell.

Underground ruins

The underground ruins are a network of tight corridors accessible from the cathedral and from street-level grates. Combat here rewards close-range fighters like Zork and Senator Samir Patres. Ranged characters struggle because line-of-sight is limited.

Strategic notes:

  • The ruins are a Trespasser hotspot during Phases II and III.
  • Use the Acidic pools to your advantage; some enemies and players will damage themselves trying to cross without preparation.
  • Ranged Bloodsworn should avoid dueling in this region unless they have a clear escape route back up the stairs.

Poisonous marsh

The marsh is the most punishing region for ranged characters. Slow damage ticks force players into mobility, and the swamp debuff discourages prolonged stays. FromSoftware has not confirmed whether marsh debuffs apply to all Bloodsworn equally, so treat the area as a PvE risk zone during Phase I.

Strategic notes:

  • Cross quickly: the marsh is not a grind zone.
  • Grab Flame Virtue if it spawns here, then leave.
  • Avoid Trespassers: most bosses in the marsh are slow and punishing.
  • Use airdash mobility to skip the worst of the swampland.

Crowded rooftops

The rooftops layer over the city streets. They are the primary vertical layer of the map, where skilled players perform tricks like quadruple jumps, airdashes, and snipe shots from elevated positions. Rooftop play rewards airdash timing, charge-jump timing, and Trang Lanh’s invisibility.

Strategic notes:

  • Skip rooftops if your Bloodsworn lacks mobility skills.
  • Use rooftops as a flank route to Pledges during Phase II/III. Ranged characters sniping from rooftops while their Allies contest Pledges below is a high-percentage composition.
  • Airdash wisely: airdashes cost stamina and reset on landing.

City streets

The streets are the ground-level mixed-use area where Trespassers, Flame Virtue corpses, and PvE enemies tend to congregate. Combat here is multi-directional, especially during Ritual Site events.

Strategic notes:

  • Rotate wide to avoid corner-camping players.
  • Stay near lantern posts to use them as cover.
  • Listen for Trespasser spawn markers on the map; they are the highest-value events in the streets during Phase II.

Bridge

The bridge is the single crossing over the river that bisects Lowarno City. It is a frequent rotation choke point during Phase II/III, especially when the Ritual Site lands near it. Successful Bridge duels depend on positioning and timing rather than raw mechanics.

Strategic notes:

  • Cross in groups if you have an Alliance or Destined Companion. Solo crossings are risky.
  • Watch for snipers on nearby rooftops if you cross during contested phases.
  • Use the bridge supports as cover for ranged fire.

Map learning approach

Press playtesters consistently noted that map knowledge made the largest difference after the first few matches. Two paths to internalise the map quickly:

  • Run the same region twice in a row. Choose the same spawn area in two consecutive phases. This builds muscle memory for the region’s spawn locations, vertical routes, and likely Trespasser spawns.
  • Use the bell tower Event as a clock. Press coverage treated the bell-ringing Event as a meta-event that lets you rotate with purpose. When the bell is the Event, the rest of the map shifts to support it; when it’s not, you have free reign.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Lowarno City the only map in the test?

FromSoftware limited the test to a single map to focus feedback on balance and infrastructure rather than map variety. The retail 2026 launch will feature three maps.

Are the maps random or selected at queue time?

Press coverage suggests a random map selection at queue time in the test. The retail version may add a map-vote or map-pick system.

Will the unrevealed maps be as detailed as Lowarno?

Based on press interviews, FromSoftware is targeting similar scale and lore integration for the other two maps. The gothic-and-Victorian influence will vary because each map draws from a different aesthetic.
